Pilates is an exercise method that was developed in the 1920s by a German called Joseph H. Pilates. Pilates is designed to strengthen the body and mind in unison. It is a series of exercises that focuses on strengthening the core muscles (the deep, internal abdomen and back muscles) which in turn brings flexibility, balance, coordination, and strength to the entire body. Pilates was originally called Contrology which is the conscious control of all muscular movements of the body.
